FAQ
What can therapy help with?
People come to therapy for many reasons—stress, anxiety, depression, betrayal trauma, relationship patterns, religious trauma, major life transitions, or simply feeling stuck. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed, or wanting support to better understand yourself or your relationships, therapy can help. A consultation call can give you a sense of whether it feels like a good fit.
What happens during a therapy session?
Sessions are a collaborative space where you can talk openly, explore your experiences, learn new skills, and build insight at a pace that feels safe. You never have to share more than you’re comfortable with.
What is the first session like?
The first session focuses on helping you to clarify your concerns and on setting goals for our work together. We’ll talk about the reasons you are seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. It’s a gentle, structured conversation—no pressure, and no need to go deep before you’re ready.
How long will I be in therapy?
There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some clients attend short-term therapy for specific goals, while others find value in longer-term work. We'll discuss your goals and preferences together.
Will I have to talk about my past?
Only if you choose to do so. Therapy is paced according to your needs, At first we won’t go too deeply into your past since there’s no benefit to stirring up painful memories before you have the coping tools to feel safe and steady. Instead, our work will center on helping you build a grounded, integrated way of living in the present—emotionally, relationally, and cognitively. You control the depth and direction of the work.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share stays private, with a few safety-related exceptions that your therapist will explain clearly before beginning.
How often do sessions occur?
Most clients start with weekly, 50 minute sessions, either in person at my office in West Chester, or via telehealth. We can adjust the frequency according to your needs.
How much does therapy cost and do you take insurance?
Because I believe mental health care should be accessible to everyone, I accept a variety of insurance plans as well as a variety of payment methods. We can explore your out of network benefits and you may use HSA and FSA cards. Please visit the Rates & Insurance tab for details or contact me directly with questions.
